Welcoming students
At the start of every year, the International Student Welcome is run over several weeks in September and October by CGS in partnership with CICCU, CCCF, local churches and Friends International. We enjoy meeting students at the various welcome events: Afternoon Cream Teas, Walks to Grantchester, Really Useful Tours and many others. The ISW dinners at the end of the welcome period are a highlight.
Sign up to be linked with a buddy, receive email reminders about events
or receive a welcome booklet in your pigeon hole at College!
Throughout the year
Don't worry if you missed the welcome period! Here are some ways you can join some events throughout the year.
CGS Bible Study groups
The Christian Graduate Society run weekly Bible studies on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, alongside getting together as a whole society. These groups are for anyone who would like to read and discuss the Bible, even if they would not call themselves a Christian. If you would like to join a group or ask questions, please don't hesitate to get in touch with them.
Chinese Fellowship
The Cambridge Chinese Christian Fellowship (CCCF) is a community of friends in and around Cambridge, primarily of Chinese origin, who are centred on the person of Jesus. Apart from weekly Cell Group meetings, they also organise events such as Lunar New Year celebrations. Check out their website for more info.
College Groups
The Cambridge Christian Union (CICCU) have weekly meetings in small groups in colleges, simply known as 'college groups'. These groups are friendly environments for people who wish to explore the Christian faith to do so together, supporting each other in warm friendship. Contact a CICCU member from your college here:
Christmas meal
CGS host a Christmas meal for internationals who are still in Cambridge after term has ended.
If you would like to find out about this, we will be posting details nearer the time to the International Student Instagram page: @isw-cambridge
Big Questions
Big Questions is a series of lunchtime talks during term which is open to all students. Each week a speaker will address an issue or topic from a Christian perspective. Questions are always welcome. Do come along.
These talks will be a mixture of in-person and online events. They are recorded for you to watch anytime. Click below for a link to their Facebook page.
Events Weeks Cambridge
Each February, CICCU put on a whole week of talks, events and discussions about the Christian faith. All students are invited to come along to hear what is being said, ask questions and be part of this week.
In 2023, 'Human' is our theme. Join us for an international dinner, lunchtime talk or evening event!
