International students at Cambridge University

With thousands of internationals at Cambridge University, it's a great place to enjoy meeting people from all over the world!

Welcoming students

At the start of every year, the International Student Welcome is run over several weeks in September and October by CGS in partnership with CICCU, CCCF, local churches and Friends International. We enjoy meeting students at the various welcome events: Afternoon Cream Teas, Walks to Granchester, Really Useful Tours and many others. The ISW dinners at the end of the welcome period are a highlight.

During Covid, a smaller programme has been in place and a new Buddy Scheme has been very popular. Due to high demand all sign ups for events and buddies are now closed. However, we'll be posting more events for internationals on the Cambridge ISW Facebook page which you can find here:

When you arrive in Cambridge you may find us waiting for you at the train or bus station. During ISW, we run lots of different events to help new international students meet others, adjust to the university and start their year well.

International Freshers Week

For undergraduates, this is a great way to meet other internationals and find someone to help you adjust to the city.

During Covid, this is not running but feel free to get in touch with our friends at CICCU to find out how to be invovled.

Throughout the year

Don't worry if you missed the welcome period! Here are some ways you can join some events throughout  the year.

Family-style meal

The Christian Graduate Society enjoy having meals together. These meals are great places for anyone to enjoy a good meal, make friends and get to know the community more. Why not get in touch if you would like to hear about the next meal?
During Covid19 these meals are no longer running.
